FAQ
What is a pleated filter cartridge?
A pleated filter cartridge uses folded filter media to increase the effective filtration area within a compact cartridge structure. Depending on the media type, it can be used for prefiltration, clarification, fine filtration or final filtration.
What is the difference between depth and membrane filters?
Depth filters capture particles throughout the thickness of the filter media and usually offer higher dirt-holding capacity. They are commonly used for prefiltration and high-solids applications.
Membrane filters retain particles mainly through a controlled pore structure and provide more consistent filtration efficiency. They are generally used for fine, polishing or final filtration.
Which filter media should I choose?
The correct filter media depends on the liquid type, contaminant characteristics, required micron rating, chemical compatibility and operating conditions.
Common options include:
- PP for industrial water, RO pretreatment and general chemical filtration
- PES for fine filtration of water-based and high-purity liquids
- PTFE for aggressive chemicals, solvents and gas filtration
- Nylon for compatible aqueous and solvent-based liquids
- PVDF for high-purity and low-protein-binding applications
- Glass fiber for high dirt-holding prefiltration
What is the difference between nominal and absolute filtration ratings?
A nominal rating indicates that the filter removes a stated percentage of particles at a specified size under defined test conditions.
An absolute rating represents a more controlled retention level at the stated particle size. The exact efficiency should always be confirmed according to the manufacturer’s test method and Beta ratio.
What cartridge lengths are available?
Common cartridge lengths include:
- 5 inch
- 10 inch
- 20 inch
- 30 inch
- 40 inch
Custom lengths may also be available depending on the filter series and project requirements.
What are DOE, 222 and 226 end caps?
222 and 226 end caps use O-ring seals for more reliable installation and sealing inside the filter housing. They are commonly available with:
- Flat closed end
- Fin end
- Spear end
- Customized configurations
The correct end-cap type should be confirmed according to the existing filter housing.
